Theodore “Ted” Moore Run/Walk 5K

My uncle, Ted Moore, was killed by a drunk driver while running back in 1996; leaving my two cousins – 2 and 13 years old at the time – without their father. His colleagues at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC), where he was a professor of mathematics for 15 years, have honored his memory by holding this run/walk since he was an avid runner. Normally the 5K is held in New York, however, this year it will be virtual!

Anyone who is wanting to contribute or “register” for the race (this is NOT required for you to participate 🙂 ), can access that information here: https://www.mvcc.edu/foundation/ted-moore/index.php or check-in here via FB: https://www.facebook.com/events/322417675395295/permalink/325189071784822/?notif_t=feedback_reaction_generic&notif_id=1588259229837690

Any donation helps raise money for the Ted Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund, which is given every year to a MVCC student who participates in a broad range of campus activities and demonstrantes commitment to the community, and area drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment agencies. Photos are highly encouraged 🙂 I want to thank everyone at MTCF for coming together and supporting my family!
Best,

Angie

“The Burpee Hour”
*** This can be done with a team or individually***
What started out as a simple, yet grueling workout held to support a local restaurant in need during the COVID-19 pandemic is now being shared as a worldwide movement initiative. 12 Labours CrossFit has created a free workout that anyone can participate in called “The Burpee Hour” that will take place on Saturday, May 2.
  • Athletes are asked to register for free online on Competition Corner and can start their workout at any time on May 2 but must submit their score no later than 8:00 pm EST to have their score reflect on the worldwide leaderboard.
  • Afterward, the organizers encourage all participants to support their local restaurants by ordering takeout from within their respective communities.
  • More information is available on the official Instagram page @theburpeehour and the organizers ask that all athletes use the hashtags #theburpeehour and #burpeesfortakeout to get reposted and to raise social awareness of the event.
  • Athletes who participate will have their name displayed on a community leaderboard and have the ability to filter by gender, CrossFit affiliate, age, state, and country.
